Services
Neat books are nice. Useful books keep decisions honest.
The work here is practical monthly bookkeeping for trades, CIS subcontractor support, VAT quarters, small payroll and rescue tidy-ups. It is built for people who work from vans, yards, kitchens and job sites, not for people who want a lecture about stationery.
Monthly Bookkeeping
What Happens In Week One, Then Every Month After
Monthly bookkeeping starts once bank feed access and ID checks are complete. Full onboarding usually starts 10 working days after that point. In week one I map the bank, card feed, supplier names, regular income, loan payments, insurance, finance, software and owner spending so the file stops treating every familiar trade payment like a mystery.
For sole traders the standard monthly package starts at £165 for up to 120 bank transactions, one bank feed, one card feed and monthly owner notes. For small limited companies, the trades package starts at £285 per month and includes director transaction notes, supplier statement checks and a quarterly accountant pack.
- Bank feed and card feed checking in Xero, QuickBooks Online or FreeAgent.
- Receipt handling with a simple habit that fits site work, not office work.
- Supplier statement checks for merchants, hire shops and regular trade accounts.
- Monthly owner notes with the few questions that actually need your answer.
- Spreadsheets accepted for very small sole traders if bank statements are complete.
CIS And Subcontractors
Statements Checked Before Deductions Go Missing
CIS work covers return preparation and payment statement checks for subcontractors and small contractor relationships. The base fee is £65 per month for one contractor, plus £18 for each extra contractor. Contractor statements are checked against the bank so deductions, gross amounts and payment dates do not drift into the wrong month.
I send reminders when verification details, statements or missing payment notes are needed. What I will not do is guess. If a contractor has not issued a statement, if a deduction has not been explained, or if a cash deposit has no story, the file waits for an answer.
- Monthly CIS return preparation from the records supplied.
- Payment statement checks for deductions and contractor names.
- Verification reminders before a new subcontractor becomes a deadline.
- Plain notes for your accountant where the CIS trail affects accounts or tax.
VAT Quarters
The Quarter Is Built Before The Deadline Week
VAT return preparation starts at £180 per quarter when records are already in Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent. When paper receipts need sorting, it starts at £310 per quarter. Receipt checks, bank coding, obvious omissions and supplier statements are reviewed before the return is prepared.
For construction clients I keep reverse charge awareness in the workflow and flag anything that needs the accountant’s judgement. Revenue Minutes does not sign statutory accounts or corporation tax returns in-house. The job here is an accountant-ready pack that gives the qualified accountant something clean to work from.
- Quarterly receipt checks against bank and card activity.
- VAT return preparation from existing bookkeeping software.
- Construction reverse charge queries surfaced instead of buried.
- Deadline rhythm agreed early, especially around Christmas and New Year.
Small Payroll
Payslips, RTI And The Small Details That Delay Wages
Payroll is for small teams, usually one to five employees. The run is £38 for one to five employees, plus £6 for each additional employee. That includes payslips and RTI submission. Payroll-only clients pay before the RTI submission is made.
Starters, leavers, hours, pay changes and pension notes are handled through short prompts. This is not overseas payroll and it is not built for large teams. It is for the owner who needs Friday wages, clean payslips and no surprise letter from HMRC because an RTI submission sat unsent.
- Payslips prepared and sent for small teams.
- RTI submission after payroll details and payment are confirmed.
- Starter and leaver details checked before the run.
- Pension notes recorded for accountant or pension adviser review.
Rescue Tidy-Ups
A Staged Rebuild, Not A Panic Sweep
Rescue and catch-up work is £48 per hour, with a usual fixed quote after the first 90-minute review. Most three-month catch-ups land between £420 and £780. Work over £400 needs a 50% deposit before the first ledger rebuild starts.
The process is deliberately staged. First I review the software, bank, cards, paper and deadlines. Then I quote. Then I rebuild the bank, supplier trail, receipts and owner questions. The final output is either a working monthly routine or a pack your accountant can rely on.
- Review the backlog, deadlines, software and bank statements.
- Quote the recoverable work with deposit and owner questions clear.
- Rebuild the ledger in stages so errors do not move downstream.
- Prepare accountant pack or monthly routine for the next quarter.
Not A Fit
Work That Gets Turned Away
Revenue Minutes is deliberately small. Taking the wrong work would slow down the clients who already rely on monthly rhythm, so some enquiries are politely declined.
- No cash-in-hand clean-ups where the owner will not explain missing takings or deposits.
- No cryptocurrency trading records, overseas payroll, import VAT disputes or stock-heavy retail bookkeeping.
- No statutory accounts or corporation tax returns signed in-house.
- No last-minute self assessment rescue work taken after 10 January for the 31 January deadline.
- No anonymous quote requests, contact forms or work started without a call and ID checks.
